Ankara: Netanyahu’s claims against Turkey, Erdogan are desperate attempts to cover up Gaza war

Ankara has described claims made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as “desperate and empty attempts” to cover up Israel’s war in Gaza and its ongoing aggression in the occupied West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and elsewhere.

The statement was issued by a Turkish diplomat at the rank of third secretary at the Foreign Ministry, speaking on behalf of Turkey during the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, in response to what it described as baseless claims by Netanyahu.

Turkey firmly rejects the baseless and malicious accusations directed against the country and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the statement said.

It added that the departure of a large number of delegations from the General Assembly hall during Netanyahu’s speech was not insignificant, describing it as a strong diplomatic condemnation.

“The message is clear: his words no longer carry credibility, his policies are rejected, and his isolation on the international stage is deepening day by day,” the statement said.
